For those who visited Anantara properties in Dubai this is a quite and little old property , Amenities are fairly good but the drive from Dubai is quite long.

Ambience is amazing but very laid back.

Marvelous hideout with a beach and animal

Tranquility of this place is truly inspiring. You get a perfect beach with almost no one in it. Lots of animals on the premise that live alongside.

It was difficult to find the schedule of the ferry to the island before making the booking. This is an inportant information and it should be publicly available so you dont need to call the hotel.

Amazing island overall. Lots of wildlife. We really liked the peacocks that would come every morning during breakfast. The hotel staff is very welcoming and very accommodating.

Our room had a little bit of smell (I guess due to high humidity level).

Bitter, sweet with highs and lows

the staff were very kind and hospitable in the Sahel Villas site but still not the break we wanted.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to stay in this property. We got there at check and we were told that we were upgraded to Al Sahel villa, which is great but not the holiday that we wanted. We booked the hotel to be by the beach we ended up in the middle of the sanctuary. When we informed the staff we wanted to stay in the hotel as we wanted beach activities, they informed there is construction noise and works there. The issue is we were not given a choice, they should have at least informed us and gave us the option to move the stay so we felt very disappointed. To top that, we were not informed about the timing for the ferry and I was told by the hotel staff that they sent already information to the email but surely they could have seen that it’s booking.com and not real email. Because of this we arrived 20 min after ferry departure at 3 then we had roam around for 2 hours to wait for the 6 pm departure so we lost our whole afternoon We tried to go to the hotel but the shuttle bus shuttled us around the reservation and it took us 75 minutes to get back to our villa so we didn’t want to spend the whole weekend going from one property to another All in all it was a bitter sweet stay, we loved the staff and our friendly neighbor animals but it just wasn’t what we paid for

Unique and Lovely

Everything was nice and comfortable and made me forget the long trip from Al Ain to reach this place. The only thing the price is too high, although it deserves it, but I wish it was less to go there frequently.

Pricing is too high to go there with family, especially in holidays. The ferry maybe can be more comfortable especially for kids so they don't feel sick

Great island vacation

We enjoyed that it was an island vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The employees were all friendly, professional and helpful. From check-in until we had to leave. We enjoyed some spa treatments, went on the game drive, visited all the different restaurants and experience the different cuisine on the island. It was an adventure for us. They made our stay really memorable. Thank you.

What was the highlight of Anantara Desert Islands Resort & Spa

Overall, our family had a lovely time here, but I'd recommend this for kids at least 4+/ideally 6+.

The hotel and surrounding areas are lovely. The rooms are spacious, clean, and have all the amenities you would expect. We stayed as a family of 5 in one suite + one king room. The buffet was quite decent. It wasn't as big as it is in other Anantara or other 5 star resorts, but being eco-friendly and on an island, I can understand trying to limit waste so this wasn't a problem for us. There was plenty of options to try, though it was the same thing pretty much every day so keep that in mind if you are staying for more than 3 days... it will get repetitive quickly. The excursions were fun. We did the safari, conservation tour, horseback riding, biking, and falcon show. Our guides were helpful and knowledgeable. Our kids liked the kids club. It is very small though and has only one person on staff. This wasn't an issue for us as most of the time my kids were the only ones there (we went for about an hour in the afternoons). They did crafts with the lady there, but I think it would get crowded and overwhelming for her if more kids showed up. It would've been nice if there was something educational available in the spirit of the island that they could've done there so you could use it for longer than an hour..

It wasn't clear until we arrived that there really is no beach area. They say there is, but it's tiny, no beach chairs or anything as it's a nature reserve and the animals are technically roaming free anywhere. There was construction to create banks along the perimeter so there were excavators in many places, and they were running during the morning right behind the pool so it was loud while you were trying to swim and relax. That wasn't ideal. They could at least inform guests ahead of time so you know to expect it. All the water activities are essentially for 6+ and confident swimmers so we couldn't do any of them without splitting up our family. One annoying thing was that the timings on their excursion link didn't always match up to the actual time offered. We really wanted to do the monastery tour, but the website said it was offered at 6pm, which was around our kids dinner time. On our last day, we found out it was actually at 4/4:45pm, which would've worked out fine had we known that. You also can't really just roam around on your own. I was willing to walk around there without doing an actual tour or anything, but they said we couldn't. The pool doesn't have any toys available and the store doesn't sell them so unless you bring your buckets and water toys with you in your luggage, there really isn't anything available at the pool. I would've even paid to rent them rather than trying to pack those sorts of things, but they just didn't have anything on site. The ferry is on a strict schedule. This should be communicated well. We arrived 5 minutes after its scheduled time and had to wait 3 hours for the next one. Then it's a 30 minute ferry ride + 20 minute bus ride to the resort. This is on top of the 3 hour drive from Dubai... plan accordingly. A flight to Kenya would be quicker at that point.......

A great getaway and amazing experience, greatly recommend it! It really felt like a holiday.

The island is great, and it really fells like a getway. It is much bigger than we expected. I enjoyed learning about the history and love the aims for the island to be self sustainable, in producing its own energy, some of its food as well supporting endangered animals, creating a complete ecosystem for nature. All that with the amazing hospitality of Anantara! There were 2 lovely restaurants by the villas, especially liked Olio, both with great food. The service everywhere was great and with lovely staff. Great to be able to move between the various locations. Loved seeing gazelles and peacocks roaming around everywhere.

The main restaurant (pool restaurant - Shams) at the Desert Island resort could be improved. Breakfast was nice, but the rest of the meals ok, but there is room for better selection and quality. As the main restaurant it is a bit lacking for lunch and dinner (becomes very repetitive). The diving center needs to be better organised so that dives happen as planned (significant delays).

Over all facilities and room & amenities were excellent.. Above all the exemplary service by the staff and their hospitality need to be plauded.. Want to specifically thank and praise the staff Citra(Front office) , Mounir(Wildlife drive) , Jaffer(Kayaking) and the Horseriding staff to name few...they treated us like royals Food @Palm,Oleo was finglerlicking good too.. Over all, was the best stay cation ever for me and children.. Will recommend to anyone...

The activities could have priced as package options to bring down the costs..

The property location and the amenities are very good.

The maintenance of the property is not good. The cleanliness to be improved. It's sandy area, hence the maintenance team need to think differently to control the sand. Plant grasses near the swimming pool in the villa instead of stone and trees. Overall the maintenance need to improve without any shortcuts.

The room was perfect as well as the view.

The setting in restaurant. To full and we waited a long time to be served. The egg station were very busy because there was only one person to help. Even the variety didn't match the price we paid. We feel that the price was to much for what we got.
